About This Event
Take note of the new start time and date
This will be about an 8 mile hike starting at Wildwood Park. But its not going to be the usual Wildwood hike....trust me. No beginners. No whiners.
Special equipment needed
Bring shoes you don't mind getting wet. Trekking pole if you have one. There will be two creek crossings where the water is over knee high and wading is the only way across.
Hike Description
Other than the length and a strenuous 1/2 mile section, the hike is relatively easy. About 1.5 miles after the start of hike we'll drop into Box Canyon. On the way out, there will be a 400 foot gain over that 1/2 mile section then a 600 ft loss during the next half mile as we drop into Hill Canyon. We will then make a pit stop at Santa Rosa Park where there are bathrooms and drinking fountains.
The park will be a good place to change shoes if necessary, for our first creek crossing over Arroyo Conejo in Hill Canyon will occur there. We'll explore an old pump house that is hidden among some trees. The next crossing will be about a mile after that on flat clear trail along the Arroyo Conejo. After crossing the creek again you can put your dry shoes back on.
We'll follow the Arroyo Conejo a bit more, then turn into Wildwood Canyon toward Paradise Falls then back to the car.
