About This Event
Browns Canyon, located in the central Santa Susana Mountains, offers more wilderness elements than any other Los Angeles River tributary outside of the Angeles National Forest. These grasslands and slopes of the Santa Susana Mountains are out of the past, with broad unbroken pasturage, oak-shaded canyons, and stands of poppies and lupine. Our hike will begin on an oak-lined road the leads to an old gravel quarry and covers the western ridges of Brown's Canyon.
Directions: Take the 101 or 118 and exit on De Soto Av. Go north on De Soto to the end of the street and make a right on Brown's Canyon Rd (toward Michael D Antonovich Park). Proceed for about 1-1/4 miles ignoring the "private road" signs and look for the turnout and trailhead on the left. You can park in the turnout or on the street.

Note: This hike will take in the "optional extension" that was to be included in the Devil's Canyon Loop hike a while back.
