About This Event

This week's hike will be a "leisurely" 10-mile trek on a streamside trail, through oak and sycamore woodlands, and chaparral-covered slopes in Malibu Creek State Park. Twenty-five-mile Malibu Creek in the park is the principal water-course of the Santa Monica Mountains - from Boney Mountain to Malibu Lagoon. The park was the center of Chumash Native American life for centuries before becoming a country club and then a location for numerous movies and TV shows, such as Planet of the Apes and MAS*H

Highlights include: Mott Adobe, The Rock Pool, Century Lake, The MAS*H Site, Mendenhall Oak, The Lost Cabin and more.

We will meet at the Grasslands Trail head on south side of Mullholland Hwy about 0.1 mile west of Las Virgenes Rd. There is plenty of roadside parking on Mulholland

From the 101 Fwy: Exit Las Virgenes/Malibu Canyon. Turn south toward the beach 3.3 miles then turn right on Mullholland Hwy and park about 0.1 miles up the road.

From PCH: Turn north on Malibu Canyon for 4.6 miles then turn left onto Mulholland Hwy and park about 0.1 miles up the road.
