DESCRIPTION:The Rock Pool is one of the most popular landmarks in Malibu Creek State Park. It has been the site of many movies and TV shows including Planet of the Apes\, Swiss Family Robinson series\, Tarzan movies and Dr Quinn Medicine Woman.\\n\\n\\n\\n🧺 🤽Bring a sack lunch -- we'll have an extended break by the Pool. In addition to the Rock Pool we'll also have an opportunity to cool our toes at a Malibu Creek crossing.\\n\\n\\n\\nSOME HIGHLIGHTS ALONG THE WAY\\n\\n\\n\\nThe Mott Adobe - a vacation home built around 1925 by Los Angeles lawyer and member of Crags Country Club Johnny Mott on Mott Road just off Crags Road. Herbert Hoover once slept there\\n\\n\\n\\nThe structure is a Spanish Colonial Revival style adobe block structure with a two-door garage\, featuring local bricks\, wooden doors and beams\, and wrought iron fixtures. Only portions of the building are still standing.\\n\\n\\n\\nThe Visitor Center - The center was built in the Colonial Revival architectural style in the 1920s by Willis P. Hunt as a vacation home. Within you will find maps\, books\, souvenirs\, even refreshments for sale and nature exhibits.\\n\\n\\n\\nCampgrounds - We will also be traveling by a year-round campground that boasts 63 sites.\\n\\n\\n\\n👉This leisurely 7-mile hike with appx 1\,000 ft total ascent is rated MEDIUM. See the Hike Rating Guide\\n\\n\\n\\nDIRECTIONS TO PARKING AND MEETING\\n\\n\\n\\nWe'll be parking and meeting at the Tapia Park day use lot. Fee is $12/car. This is the big lot at the south end of park. Entrance is about 5 miles south of 101 and about 4.3 miles from PCH\\n\\n\\n\\nIf you have never been to Tapia Park\, getting to the parking lot is a little confusing. So....Heed my instructions\\n\\n\\n\\n\\n\\n	First enter the park via the main entrance (see photo below). Don't use the Meetup Google map entrance (its closed) -- if you are coming from Calabasas use the next entrance.\\n\\n\\n	Once inside\, Google Map will send you in the correct direction. Pay at the gate\, if it is staffed\, or the pay station (cc ok) there.\\n\\n\\n	Proceed thru gate bearing left at every opportunity until you reach the parking lot. Find a shady spot to park under -- toward the other end. (see pic below)
