We'll hike along forgotten ranch roads and use trails. It will include a hike over the eastern ridge of Cheeseboro Canyon and to the Baleen Wall along a forgotten and overgrown trail. We'll then descend into Upper Las Virgenes Canyon by way of a vanished ranch road (This segment is sure to be very overgrown. Be prepared for a little bushwhacking). Much of the hike will be on well-known trails.\\n\\n\\n\\nIn the picture above there is the remnants of a gate and there are no visible trails\, but at one time 3 unpaved roads met at this spot. Besides our group no one has been here in possibly decades!\\n\\n\\n\\nThis is a strenuous hike and will go for about 9.5 miles.\\n\\n\\n\\nBack Story\\n\\n\\n\\nWhile pouring over some old topo maps of the Upper Las Virgenes area I noticed a couple of "unpaved roads" that I have never seen while hiking. I loaded the road into my GPS and went to the location in search of these roads. When I arrived at the site\, there was no sign of any road. Not ready to give up\, I proceeded to walk the same path as if the road was there. Later\, just when I thought I was on a wild goose-chase\, I came across some artifacts (see picture above) that confirmed the topo data (and the accuracy of my orienteering!).\\n\\n\\n\\nhttp://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/7/2/5/f/600_432329279.jpeg\\n\\n\\n\\nThis photo of the bobcat was taken in Cheeseboro Canyon 12/31/2010 by Jared Hughey\\n\\n\\n\\nBring plenty of water\, snacks\, hat\, sunscreen\, your best hiking boots.
