DESCRIPTION:This is a fun conditioning hike to the radio-towered summit of Green Peak\\n\\n\\n\\nhttp://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/9/a/8/600_331783432.jpeg\\n\\n\\n\\nOur route begins on Trailer Canyon fire road providing broad views over Santa Ynez Canyon and the surrounding mountains. But like nature and vacuums\, we abhor service roads. Thus\, shortly after the hike begins we will leave the service road and take a small\, slightly overgrown use trail that passes a clay gully and crosses a lush ridge up to the Temescal Ridge trail. We'll return along the srvice road making a loop in the canyon.\\n\\n\\n\\nhttp://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/6/d/7/6/event_329668022.jpeg\\n\\n\\n\\nAlong the way don't forget to check out an old quarry marked by a single out of place palm tree juxtaposed against the indigenous chaparral.\\n\\n\\n\\nhttp://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/6/9/5/2/event_329666962.jpeg\\n\\n\\n\\nWe'll soon meet up with Temescal Ridge trail and head over and up to Green Peak\\n\\n\\n\\nHike is a good workout with a total of 4.2 miles and 1\,000 feet elevation gain on the way during the 1.5 miles to Green Peak\\n\\n\\n\\nSunset: 6:43 PM - stash a green or red headlamp into backpack if you have one\\n\\n\\n\\nDirections:\\n\\n\\n\\nFrom Sunset Boulevard\, half a mile east of PCH\, head north on Palisades Drive. After 2.4 miles. Turn left onto Vereda de la Montura\, (the same turnoff for the trailhead for hikes in Santa Ynez Canyon to Santa Ynez Falls and Eagle Rock) and make an immediate right on Michael Lane. Drive half a mile to the trailhead\, which will be on the left (look for what looks like a private driveway). There is street parking available on Michael Lane.
