We will snack and explore on this impressive sandstone rock covered with crevices and caves.\\n\\n\\n\\nOur trip to the rock will traverse a seldom used trail across a large meadow\,\\n\\n\\n\\nhttp://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/1/7/highres_436981047.jpeg\\n\\n\\n\\nthrough tall chaparral and a shady oak forest\\n\\n\\n\\nhttp://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/e/9/c/2/highres_436979842.jpeg\\n\\n\\n\\nand up along Cheney Ridge.\\n\\n\\n\\nhttp://photos2.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/2/0/a/0/highres_286148352.jpeg\\n\\n\\n\\nAs you can see we'll be going a different route than most of you veterans have used so be prepared for some pleasant surprises. We'll start in Trippet Ranch parking lot and end on Entrada Rd for a loop\\n\\n\\n\\nBring camera\, plenty of water and snacks\\n\\n\\n\\nHike is about 5.5 miles with 1200 ft elevation gain\\n\\n\\n\\nBring a sack lunch and we'll take an extended break on Eagle Rock -- we'll make a picnic out of it!\\n\\n\\n\\nDirections\\n\\n\\n\\nFrom Topanga Canyon Boulevard\, turn east on Entrada Road\; that's to the left if you are coming from the San Fernando Valley. Follow Entrada Road by turning left at every opportunity until you arrive at Topanga State Park.\\n\\n\\n\\nPark on street before the last left turn (and walk a couple blocks) or pay the iron ranger in the park ($15?). If you park on street be sure that your left wheels are inside the white line. Note parking restrictions. We'll meet by at the benches by bathrooms.\\n\\n\\n\\nThe official hike will end on the street outside of pay area.\\n\\n\\n\\nThe Organizers and members of Hiking With Dean are not professional leaders\, guides\, or mountaineers. The function of the member or organizer is only to organize the trip. Each person who shows up for a trip/meetup (and their guest or guests) is responsible for his or her own safety.
