DESCRIPTION:http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/3/5/0/e/event_81553582.jpeg\\n\\n\\n\\nWe begin our journey hiking north into Liberty Canyon -- one of three natural preserves in Malibu Creek State Park. The canyon has a rare stand of California Valley Oak. Soon we turn west onto the Phantom Trail\, cross a creek\, trek up a ridge\, then south again and rise further along the western ridge of Liberty Canyon.\\n\\n\\n\\nAfter a few miles the trail puts us down onto Mulholland Hwy. We proceed across Mulholland onto the Cistern Trail in Malibu Creek Stat Park. Cistern Trail ascends a bit as it leaves Mulholland Highway\, but soon after begins heading downhill\, with views of Reagan Ranch off to the right\, and the Goat Buttes and Castro Crest of Malibu Creek State Park ahead.\\n\\n\\n\\nhttp://jeffycan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Malibu-Creek-Century-Lake.jpg\\n\\n\\n\\nAfter a short distance we will merge with the Lookout Trail and take that down to Century Lake for a snack/lunch break next to the water. We will then take Cragg's Rd to Grasslands Trail back to Mulholland and Liberty Canyon to close the loop.\\n\\n\\n\\nHike will ber about 8-10 miles with a 900 - 1000 ft NET elevation gain\\n\\n\\n\\nTrailhead and street parking are on Mullholland Hwy about 0.2 mi west of Las Virgenes Rd.\\n\\n\\n\\nDown Memory Lane:\\n\\n\\n\\nHere we are on the same hike June 2007\, just a couple months after the group started:\\n\\n\\n\\nhttp://www.meetup.com/localhikers/photos/173097/
