At the top we will see many fossils in the sandstone\\n\\n\\n\\nThis is a moderate-to-strenuous 9 mile hike with over 1500 ft elevation gain\\n\\n\\n\\nHighlights include the sedimentary rock formations known as the Sespe Formation\, Hondo canyon's pink "V" gourge (we'll take a short side-trip into the gorge)\, Topanga Lookout and the Bragg home in the Bay Tree Woodland. (Paul C. Bragg was a pioneer in the health food movement in California. He was the inspiration and teacher for later healthy living teachers like Jack LaLanne. His abandoned vacation cabin was here until 1993 when it burned).\\n\\n\\n\\nDirections:\\n\\n\\n\\nMeet at backbone trailhead on south side of Old Topanga Road\, 1/4 mile west of Topanga Canyon. Trailhead parking is on south side of street. There some additional parking in small turnouts along Old Topanga\\n\\n\\n\\nThere will be a post hike lunch at Pat's Topanga Grill. BYOB
