DESCRIPTION:Start time is 8:00 am\\n\\n\\n\\nJoin us for a brand new hike in Chivo Canyon.\\n\\n\\n\\nWe will be hiking on eroded roads and little-used trails through oak woodlands and along a creek. Along the way we will come across bubbling oil seeps\, marine fossils and the old Coquina Mine. At the abandoned limestone mining operation\, atop a peak\, you can sit in the operator’s seat of a large steam shovel. On a clear day you can see the ocean from atop the ridgeline.\\n\\n\\n\\nHike is about 9.3 miles with 1500 ft total ascent.\\n\\n\\n\\nWear your best lugsoles. Trekking pole highly recommended\\n\\n\\n\\nSpecial thanks to Les for helping me scout this out.\\n\\n\\n\\nDirections to trailhead: Take the 118 and exit Yosemite Ave. Head north on Yosemite for 1.3 mile to where the road splits and hang a right on Evening Sky Dr. Go 0.5 mile to trailhead on the left
