DESCRIPTION:We will hike northwest on the Backbone Trail to the Zuma Ridge Trail. This trail begins at the Newton Canyon Parking Lot on Kanan-Dume Road. The winding trail leads to a view of the Upper Zuma Falls\, which are especially grand after the winter rains\, which never came.\\n\\n\\n\\n5-6 miles round trip with optional extension to Newton Falls and/or Buzzard's Roost\\n\\n\\n\\nMeet: 9:00am at Backbone/Newton Canyon Trailhead on Kanan-Dume Road. Bring 1-2qts water\, snacks\, hiking shoes\\n\\n\\n\\nDirections\\nFrom the Ventura Freeway 101\, go south on Kanan Road about 7.8 miles to just before the "third tunnel" (T1). The parking lot is on the right (west side of what is now Kanan-Dume Road) and easy to spot.\\n\\n\\n\\nFrom Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu\, go north on Kanan Dume Road about 4.3 miles\, just through the "first tunnel\," and make a left turn into the parking lot on the west side of Kanan Dume.\\n\\n\\n\\nUse the following appx address and your favorite internet map for directions:\\n\\n\\n\\n1700 Kanan Dume Rd\\nMalibu\, CA 90265\\n\\n\\n\\nSee files section for a printable brochure and map
