SUMMARY:Las Llajas Canyon - Simi Valley
DESCRIPTION:This is a relatively easy to moderate 4.5-mile hike (out and back) with an evenly distributed\, gradual elevation gain of about 700′. \nThe Hike\nMy hikes are slow paced (1.5-2 mph) and the end time is approximate only. We take breaks\, we explore\, and we don’t leave anyone behind. If this hike isn’t for you\, please find another that best suits your needs. Also\, please review the disclaimer below. \nMeet me at the trailhead at 6:00 (I promise I will be there at 6:00)\, with a start time at 6:05. \nFrom the trail head\, we’ll walk down an asphalt road to the gravel fire road and turn right. Once on the fire road\, there will be no more turns. We’ll keep going for about 2 miles before turning back\, however\, we will also stop at various junctions to allow others to catch up. \n** IMPORTANT NOTE ** On our way back and near the end of the hike\, when reaching the asphalt road\, turn LEFT onto the asphalt road to get back to our cars (don’t keep going straight). \nThe hike will be cancelled if: \n\nHot weather (85 degrees or higher)\nHigh winds\, rain\, or fire\n\nEssentials \n\nVentura County SARS 10 Essentials\nBring 2 liters of water\, flashlights\, snacks\, electrolytes\nBring your hiking poles if needed.\nWear good hiking boots/shoes\, sunscreen\, hat\nBring a jacket for cooler weather\nBug spray\n\nOther Details \n\nTrail: asphalt at the very beginning of the hike then a fire road\nDogs: On a leash per state law\nRestrooms: At the park or behind a rock\nWater Fountain: At the park\, none on the trail\nParking: Free in street on the side of the trailhead\nKnown Dangers: Rattlesnakes\, mountain lions\, bobcats\, tarantulas\, scorpions\, slip-‘n-fall\, poison oak\nWeekday hikes in Simi Valley hikes start at 6:00pm.
