DESCRIPTION:The Hike\nThis is a moderate 4.8-miles\, out and back\, hike with an elevation gain of 810’. \nMy hikes are slow paced (1.5-2 mph) and the end time is approximate only. We take breaks\, we explore\, and we don’t leave anyone behind. If this hike isn’t for you\, please find another that suits your needs. \nMeet me at the parking lot behind Clinica’s Health Center on the corner of Royal and Madera at 6:00 pm\, we will start promptly at 6:05. \nOther Details \n\nI will cancel this hike if there are 2 people or less\nHigh winds\, rain\, hot weather\, fire or snow will cancel this hike\nRestrooms: In the bushes\nWater Fountain: None\nDogs: Yes\, but must be leashed per the CA state law\nParking: Free\nKnown Dangers: Rattlesnakes\, slip-‘n-fall\, poison oak\n\nChecklist \n\nIt’s dark (bring your flashlights)\nBring a minimum of 2 liters of water\, snacks\, electrolytes\nWear good hiking/walking shoes\nBe prepared to dress warm for cooler weather\nBring your hiking poles if needed\nBring bug spray for those pesky gnats\n\nFrom the parking lot behind the Clinica’s medical building\, on the corner of Royal Ave and Madera\, we will cross over Madera and walk a short distance through the neighborhood to the trailhead. We will hike a series of switchbacks for about 1.5 miles to the cross at the top\, then continue to the entrance gate at the Reagan Library. This is a steady climb (about 20 switchbacks) across the face of the hill\, always in full view of the neighborhood below\, and of Simi Valley.
