SUMMARY:Sycamore Canyon Evening Hike
DESCRIPTION:Come join me for a pleasant intermediate paced evening hike.\nI am choosing this hike for Wednesday because there is a Double Comet Lemmon event happening this week that we may be able to see on our way back or even to our mid point.\nWe will hike to Danielson Campground\, it might be dark but we can take an optional brief snack break at the campground. Bring a light if you want to do that\, otherwise we probably won’t stop very long at the picnic tables the group can decide.\nWe will be on pavement or gravel most of the way which makes it a little easier. It can be hot starting out but it cools down pretty quickly. There might be a chance of mosquitos here so don’t say I did not warn you. \nThis also is considered a reverse hike in that the hardest section is returning back up the paved hill at the end. \nDistance: 6 miles on Pavement and gravel road \nElevation Gain: about 600 ft \nDifficulty: Easy Intermediate hike due to pace and distance\, but an experienced fast paced beginner or someone willing to go the distance (we only stop at the halfway point/picnic tables) should be able to do it too\, please do not expect anyone to wait for you if you are slower and do not know the way. \nDogs: No \nRestrooms: There is an Andy Gump toilet mid hike \nWater Fountain: No \nParking: Free\, make sure you do not park on the street across from the trailhead or you will get a ticket. Park farther down at Potrero and Pinehill on the right then walk to the trailhead. Please review the driving directions as we park in a neighborhood and not at the trailhead.\nGPS pin has not been reliable lately so review directions.\nTrail: Out and back\, pavement/fireroad this hike goes down at the beginning and up at the end \nSunset: 6:12pm bring flashlight or headlamp (a charged phone with a flashlight works too) will be needed for the way back to the car. \nWeather: Adverse Weather conditions will cancel the hike. Come prepared with a light layer in your pack in case you get chilly from all the sweat! (I usually get chilled on the way back). \nKnown Dangers: Rattlesnakes\, poison oak\, Mosquitoes may all be encountered on this hike\, bug spray might be useful here\, possibly due to recent winds and dry weather we won’t encounter them this time. \nIt is always possible to slip and fall though the road is flat wear comfortable shoes that you can wear on pavement or dirt. \nBring: Your headlamp/light\, a personal snack\, light layer and LOTS of H20 when it’s hot (maybe 2L or more L if you sweat a lot).
