SUMMARY:Tapo Canyon and Wildflowers\, Simi Valley
DESCRIPTION:This is a moderate 4.5 mile hike with an elevation gain of 800’\, suitable for fit-beginners. \nThe Hike\nMy hikes are slow paced (1.5-2 mph) and the listed end time is only an estimate. We take breaks\, we explore\, and we don’t leave anyone behind. If this hike isn’t for you\, please find another that best suits your needs. \nMeet me at the trailhead (see map in the photo gallery) at 6:00\, we’ll start at 6:05. \nIt is not a difficult hike because the elevation gain is rather mild\, and it’s mostly spread out over the whole area with gradual climbs with a moderately steeper climb coming out of the canyon. \nFrom the trail head\, we’ll hike about ½ mile on level ground followed by a steady and gradual 1 mile climb to the junction at the top. Then we will hike a small hill\, take a breather and enjoy the views\, and head down into the canyon. \nComing back\, we will hike out of the canyon to the junction which is a moderately steep climb but doable for beginners. At the junction\, we’ll hike about 1½ miles back to the trailhead. \nSunset is at 7:00pm\, last light is at 7:25pm. It is about 450 feet\, or one minute\, before Lost Canyon Drive. Lost Canyon Drive has a street light on the corner.
