VIP Hike – Western Griffith Park Necklace – Breakfast Included

I've led only two hikes in Griffith Park, both to the Hollywood sign, both starting from the same place, but done differently each time (and both years apart and long ago). I say its time for a third way. This time we'll do a loop around the western section of Griffith Park.

I'll be serving a continental breakfast and handing out some goodies. I've got emergency blankets for new VIPs and hand warmers for everyone.

Like the other two times we will stay off the popular trails and take use trails as much as possible. I have spied a couple new ones that we'll try for the first time. Be prepared for overgrown trails and loose dirt/rock use trails. Expect the unexpected.

We'll start at the Brush Canyon trailhead on Canyon Drive and look for an elusive use trail on the left -- this is where the fun will begin -- do some peak bagging and visit the usual sites in the area in the following order:

Hike will be about 7-8 miles with 2,000 feet elevation gain. Due to the nature of the hike, terrain, multiple forks and an open-ended exploratory course, I am keeping this down to a smallish group. DIRECTIONS

Navigate your way to the intersection of Franklin Avenue (which is one block north of Hollywood Blvd.) and N. Canyon Avenue

Drive north on N. Canyon Ave. At 1.0 mile pass through the gate into Griffith Park and in a short distance arrive at a parking lot on the right -- about 0.1 miles before end of road. Park here.
